wow
I don't need a cooling off period before responding to this, it made me laugh
out loud.
Jonathan, please read the following and understand I have no malice and
intend
no disrespect. In a lot of points this is a general OSS netiquette guide not
a rebuke against you.

a) accept that everybody has different styles of communication and a brief
reply is not necessarily a terse one.
b) please don't send me personal emails about *your problems* just because
bugzilla is down for a few hours.
c) please don't use the mail lists as your personal bugtracking system, they
are not a substition for internet search engines.
d) please don't join IRC with questions repeating them over and over until
someone helps you, and then drop offline immediately after getting help. That
is bad netiquette, we are a community and a community thrives from
individuals giving, not from them taking.
e) please take the time to learn how to use the common *nix tools like patch
and diff so if you do ask for assistance then whoever chooses to help you
doesn't need to hold your hand from "go to whoa", or think seriously about
switching to use the stable grimoire.
f) don't make comments (paraphrased) like "this bug has been around for a
month, who is going to fix it ?", instead of making demands on someone elses
time, invest a little of your own and learn how to fix it yourself, then
supply a patch.

Hamish
ps I expect some misunderstanding of this post and some negative reaction.
This can't be avoided considering our geographical distribution, language and
cultural differences.
