AFAIK, the only reason against pulling devel-libpng is that it
requires recasting of any spell that requires libpng, which is a
significant amount of spells. Though I'm not sure how that is an issue
since this is a source-based distro. I'm running libpng branch 1.5 on
my main box (newer than the version in devel-libpng) and almost every
spell in test works perfectly for me. Only a handful of spells I have
encountered require patches (I haven't pushed them to devel-libpng
because they are pretty much libpng 1.5 specific and I don't use
devel-libpng).

Hmm, I seem to have inadvertently switched to the xorg version in
test. I just switched back to the devel-xorg version and have
definitely broke something related to libpthreads-stubs. I'll look
into it and try to report back.

On a semi-related note, why did we revert glibc to 2.13 instead of
applying patches to re-enable the RPC interface?
