It could be very possible that you (or teh person that does this in
regards to checking for needed updates) could be chacing Version
Ghosts.

Only reason I say this is having looked at a few spells recently for
teh purposes of seeing if they needed updates one is around 4 monthes
old but none the less still up to date.

With that said I do not know how prevalent this is with other spells
and programs.
