The spell asks which modules you would like to have built-in and I
explicitly selected mod_rewrite. Apparently you can have some modules
built as dynamically-loaded modules but the install log didn't have
any modules that I could see. I'm really not sure how to tell the
spell to build the dynamic modules. LoadModule only works with the
dynamic modules so I don't think it would work to put it in
httpd.conf.

I will file a bug with the compile log attached and will also try the
httpd-dev spell to see how that works.
