I haven't really done any tests on exact quantities. I'm just going on the
assumption that "less is more". I suspect that individual packages may not
save that much in space/resources, but an accumulation of them may add up.
And the packages that have translations for a number of languages will also
add up.

gettext by itself is about 13 MB, plus archives and logs.
