The kernel headers that applications use need to be the kernel headers that glibc is compiled against. I had thought that the glibc-kernel-headers was created so that this could be possible, as per bug 3771 (http://bugs.sourcemage.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3771).

Hope the stuff written there makes a bit of sense...
