Here's the funny part of the story:
(assumed) when the ISO was made from scratch for 0.6 the ppp and rp-pppoe
sources were removed.
Selecting pppoe during install still tried to cast rp-pppoe though, which
obviously failed because there were no sources. For 0.9.2 i corrected this,
removed cast rp-pppoe and just ran adsl-setup, and am now in the process of
adding an optional start of that interface after configuration (using
adsl-start, thanks arwed)
Selecting ppp first tried to copy files from the iso_root that no longer
existed ( /etc/ppp/*) then took you through a dialog configuration that then
ran "sedit" on those copied files to change the defaults to the users
choices. So firstly copying the files failed because they didn't exist, and
then "sedit" is not a real binary in the iso_root (sorcery function) so it
fails a second time. much fun and giggles for all the family

giggles aside, should minicom and wvdial (gaze search wvdial returns
nothing ?) be added to the iso_root ? Or is it enough just to have them
cached and ready for install ? I can get back to you with sizes if people
want to make an objective comparison.

for the pppconf script you mention, I know of a user (cored - Rafael George)
who once told me on IRC he wanted to fix up the ppp stuff for the ISO and
SMGL, he was listed on the ISO team until I took over, when lack of response
to multiple contact attempts meant he was removed. Perhaps he is still
interested and capable of working with you.
Rafael if you are reading this and interested would you get into contact with
Casey please ?
