I agree with that, i'll take a look at the fhs which one should be used.

This should be decided on a case by case basis, most programs that need
more than a simple file use /etc/<appname> by default, but some don't.
E.g. mplayer used to have three config files with names that could clash
with other apps, so i decided to use /etc/mplayer for that.
