I had the same problem and to boot into the new install i had to rerun the
install disk and select root=/dev/bla-bla. Once logged in i had no network
except for lo and cast net-tools wanted me to configure the whole package
first and then it couldn't download the package as there was no network.
Luckily i don't need raid or scsi or i would have had to cast linux to
compile the kernel and then run lilo. The kernel cast probably would have
failed if i wanted any patches too. Yes i could have manually brought up a
network interface but the installer should do this unless we are only aiming
for super-geek users. This beta2 seems to have lost some very important
functionality.
