a quick look at the gcc man page has quite a bit of info, -march=601 should
do
the job (or -mcpu i guess). there are a whole bunch of other powerpc related
options i didn't read thru.

it may not be worth hassle to support this chip, i don't know if all 601
based
powermacs use the 'nubus' architecture, but i know the 2 i have do. The
vanilla kernel doesn't support nubus although there is a patch available at
http://nubus-pmac.sourceforge.net/ along with more info.
