There are two core features of sorcery that are currently
broken as documented in bugs #827 & #858. Another problem has
cropped up for some, it manifests itself with messages such as
"no grimoire metadata" or "badly formated grimoire". A workaround
for this problem is also listed below.

Nick has assigned himself to two core bugs so they should be fixed
Real Soon Now(tm), at least in the devel branch, and hopefully in
the stable branch. In the meantime, the workarounds as documented
below should get you through.

Hope this helps ...

---------------------------------------------------------------
827: See http://bugs.sourcemage.org/show_bug.cgi?id=827

This bug is responsible for some of the errors people have seen
with "sorcery-.tar.gz" not downloading, or sorcery not really
switching branches when you told it to as well as various other
problems people have seen.

The workaround is to always use "cast -r -c sorcery" twice in
a row whenever you use cast sorcery.

This problem exists in both the stable and devel branches of
sorcery.

------------------------------------------------------------------
858: See http://bugs.sourcemage.org/show_bug.cgi?id=858

There have been numerous dependency problems, permission problems,
download problems, etc. fixed in the devel branch of sorcery
recently. However, if you've only been doing "sorcery update" and
not doing any "cast sorcery"s, you haven't gotten these fixes.

Problem? The "sorcery update" command currently does not
download a new version of the sorcery scripts. The workaround
is to do always do a "cast sorcery" along with your
"sorcery update".

This problem exists in both stable and devel branches. Since the
stable branch hasn't seen an update since the recent 0.8.0.1
release, this really won't be a problem until a new stable release
is made.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Another problem people have seen that has not been documented in
bugzilla yet and that not all people are seeing:

scribe update (either called directly or called through sorcery update)
says that it can't update the grimoire since there's no meta data. If
this occurs, depending on which version of the codex you're tracking,
put a file called GRIMOIRE in the root of the grimoire director. For
example if you're tracking devel, put a GRIMOIRE file in
/var/lib/sorcery/codex/devel with a single line that says:

FROM_URL=http://codex.sourcemage.org/devel.tar.bz2

If you're tracking stable or test, substitute stable or test for
"devel" in the example above.
