Would you mind if I reverted those RC changes and cherry pick them to a
new branch? So you still don't lose the work but it doesn't cause
possible harmful issues until the final version is out?

The assumptions you make are:
everyone is already running xorg-server or has the updates that are
symlinks. This fails quickly and causes the issue.

Install logs only show what was installed not what changed in between if
existing files are already there.
Example:
cp somefile /usr/bin/somefile -> somefile is already there gets
overwritten but to sorcery it all looks the same.

I have reverted this change for now and if you like I can cherry pick
into a separate branch.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with email.

Regards.

Don't forget: the future is now. It's just not widely distributed yet.
