What constitutes a homesteder?
I have a small front garden which supplies most of my salad stuff, squash, beans, peas, garlic, spinach, mizuma, strawberries and blueberries and a large backgarden thats mostly wild but does have blackberries, raspberries, black and redcurrants, gooseberries, elderberries, hazel hedging and various herbs.
enough to feed me anyway.
Do I count as an urban homesteader?

Absolutely! Sounds like a fantastic garden/urban farm. Something you might
want to consider
for salad greens production is a "sprout farm". You can grow sunflower
sprouts and buckwheat lettuce
in compost in cafeteria trays in sunlight and, of course, hundreds of other
sprouts from seed in other containers
with only supplemental water. A rolling bread rack to hold containers in a
shady location works fine
for everything not requiring sun. Sunflower sprouts + almonds + carrots +/-
scallion +/- mild seasoning
makes an incredible salad dressing. Anyone here interested in raw foods
diets? I have a list for that topic
for those wanting to carry this discussion further:
