They are sustainable, in the purest sense of the word. One can pay closer
attention to basic necessities of life, such as nutrition and health,
sourcing food from local production systems;
adapting to a simple diet for maximum health and vigor, keeping money in
communities, living frugally, putting money away for system maintenance
