Propane is harder on engine valves than leaded gasoline and somewhat harder than unleaded gasoline. This is particularly true for air- cooled engines. Engines running continuously (as in generator service) on propane should have stainless steel valves and hardened (stellite) valve seats. Newer generators may come this way but older one didn't. I have replaced many valves and seats on engines designed for leaded gas that were run on propane or unleaded gasoline. Stainless valves appear to work best but other hardened valves may be acceptable as well.

Big improvement except foe the bulky LP 20# cylinder you'll need
to add to the equipment. This company is highly recommended. - LL
