I agree with Bill's suggestions and would add a few more details:

Get the soil tested by a lab that uses the Mehlich 3 method and calculates
CEC based on the equations worked out by Wm Albrecht and Brookside Labs that
include Sodium in the calculations and show "other bases" and Hydrogen H+
saturation as well. Some labs do not use that method and their base
saturation percentages will be off.

Bring Calcium up to 80% of saturation using gypsum as the primary source of
Ca and Sulfur. The soil should have a bare minimum of 100ppm Sulfur and
probably two or three times that depending on CEC.

SANET, this question was posed on another list, but I thought to submit it
here. This farmer is working with high boron soils and thinks this may be
affecting germination issues. Any SANET thoughts?
