Completely wrong. It is run by.... the military-industrial-academic-intelligence complex, a combination of people with clout from the military world, the intelligence community, the corporate world and the academic world.

Why would you have it any other way? In WWII with Japan, Germany and Russia progressing toward development of advanced weaponry and planning long term military/national strategies of aggression, all stops were pulled out to combat these threats. As for the present why would you have more than just a few elected officials dictating policy to the Pentagon?
1 man 1 vote telling telling the military what to do? The military is not needed anyway with Monsanto and their ilk using corrupt surrogates from the corporate, military, academic and political world to invade countries, destroying their way of life and ability to sustain their existence, peacefully and productively.

A new branch of government is needed, the Department of Permaculture. The Guardsmen going to Afganistan could help populate the ranks of employees there.
