No ants, and I tried the spray, but they are in the soil.
Would there be a problem with soapy water getting into the roots?

Try spraying them off with a misting hose nozzle sprayer. If they
return, spray them with 2 drops of mild soap per quart of water to
desiccate them. Usually they are placed there by ants as livestock, so
stop the ants from entering the greenhouse.
