according to my experience especially indian runner ducks love slugs (including the huge spanish red ones), but need plenty of water available, or they can suffocate on them. they are easy on the garden, albeit heavy footed - so keep them out of freshly seeded plots and away from youg plants. they might strip pole beans of their leaves as high up as they reach, and some love strawberries.
