Dear all,

We're hearing lots of horror stories about how the terrible current economic
recession is especially harming America's young people.

Stories like "Idle *Youth* Raises "Lost Generation"

"

However, as a young unemployed person myself and freelance journalist, I'm
interested in writing a different story.

About young farmers who have fled the mainstream economy to go "back to the
land" ...

About unemployed or laid-off youth who decided to use their time
constructively by growing local sustainable food...

And about how the recession has affected young farmers who may have started
farming earlier in the 1990s or 2000s, when the economy was still "booming,"
but who have been somehow impacted by the current economic downturn. How are
they dealing with this recession, and what advice can they give to new and
potential young farmers?

My question to everyone: Where & who are these young farmers?

Do you know any young farmers who were motivated to grow food by their
struggles with this economic recession? Or young farmers who have other
kinds of interesting stories about how this economy has affected or changed
their lives?

Please let me know! I am looking for young farmers who are willing to speak
out from all over the country.

I will also be talking to folks for this story at the Young Farmers
Conference this Thursday & Friday at Stone Barns in the Hudson Valley, NY.

Some of my other writings are posted here:

Thank you & sincerely,
Ethan Genauer
