The first permaculture credit union is in Santa Fe, New Mexico and my
permaculture instructor Scott Pittman (scott@permaculture.org) was
instrumental in it's development. What distinguishes the permaculture
credit union is that it gives out low interest rate loans for "deep green"
investments. Say you wanted to start a design business, build a greenhouse,
or rig up some new solar panels you could get much better rates for loans on
these projects. There are now people all over the world working on starting
other permaculture credit unions in fact, Steve Read (steveread@free.fr) who
often posts to this list would also be a good resource for you as they are
trying to start a innovative model in France.
