Hi,Cheryl.
Our little town had a wild fire going trough it recently(and other towns)

http://www.abc.net.au/news/events/bushfire-recovery/

At a friends property we used lot of tyres in a retaining wall/ fill and to hold soil in place..These tyres had as much as 3ft of soil covering them.
During the fire what we asume happened is that a lot of the constituent parts of the tyres vaporised and the wapour burned above
ground in explosions-google - http://www.energyjustice.net/tires/
Please see this page for tyre recycling:
http://www.abc.net.au/tv/newinventors/txt/s1509854.htm
I have in the past harbored a desire to use tyres in different projects, now i'm reassessing this desire.
We could invest in the above tyre recyling idea. You may also want to google -
"chemicals leaching from tyres"
Regards,Bela

Does anyone know of any uses for old tires (besides earthships)? Our small
town has an old gas station that has quite a collection.
Thanks,
Cheryl
