The blog will provide context, relevance and the visibility to the
Library of Congress research collections in science, technology and
business.

The posts will reflect interests of Congress, CRS, academics,
researchers, librarians, and the general public. Topics can be based on
things in the news, such as financial crisis; frequent reference
requests, such as guides to making business plans, heritage months, such
as Women History Month, or seasonal themes such as BBQ. We will draw or
point readers to the Library’s large and diverse collections that
include books, journals, prints, photographs, digital collections ,
finding aids, Web casts. Points readers in finding aids created by the
Library’s expert reference staff more information on the topic .
(appendix for list of postings). Library will be the source of the
postings, Focus is on loc.gov and vast collections, not on outside
sources.

Each posting will be vetted and peer reviewed by staff for accuracy,
grammar, and over all read.
Two RCA will bloggers.
Donna Scalon representing business and Jennifer Harbster representing
science. Each bring experience from the blogosphere.
Donna Scalon Livermore public library teen space blog (see appendix),
Internet Public Library, and personal blog X
Jennifer leader in using RSS/ email service for X years as the RCA for
the Science Referece Service What’s new in science and has contributed
to the LC Blog (see appendix).

Time 3-4 hours per week,

Blog will give a voice to Library’s reference work and expertise of
reference staff in terms of knowledge of the collection, guides, finding
aids.
