APT COW-Plus
April Mon 13 – Wed 15
This 3-day intensive Course Orientation Workshop is designed for people
wanting to teach the Accredited Permaculture Training(TM), and who have
already
completed their Certificate IV in Training And Assessment.

The course introduces APT(TM), qualifications, training approach, curriculum
development, training and assessment tools, student training recording
systems, the Registered Training Organisations licensed to deliver APT and
nature of partnerships between independent course providers and licensed
RTO’s. The course will explore the various models for APT(TM) delivery
including step-by step logistics of establishing a Bioregional Campus in
your area, and potential for APT in secondary schools, community education
and Transition re-skilling.

The COW-Plus includes registration as an approved APT(TM) trainer with the ATR
(Approved Trainers Register). ATR application assessments and associated
costs are included in the course fee. Participants who do not already have
a APT qualification are encouraged to also complete a competency
self-assessment in preparation for future RPL and/or participating in the
FLOW.

ADS+FLOW
Advanced Design Skills & PDC to APT Bridging Course Flexible Learning
Orientation Workshop
April Wed 15 – Sun 19
This course is for people who have already completed a PDC and would like to
gain an APT qualification through a combination of RPL, project work and
Flexible Learning options. AQTF standards now require APT trainers to hold
a qualification in Permaculture to at least the level being taught. This
course was developed by Robyn Francis to help fast-track this process.

On day 1, Participants will complete a self-assessment of their chosen APT
level to identify areas of existing competency and what they need to
do/learn to meet qualification requirements. The course then explores the
various pathways to achieve your qualification, including preparing for
assessment. Participants will be encouraged to form Bioregional Campus nodes
as study groups/learning collectives to share skills, pool resources,
provide peer review and encouragement, and engage in group learning
activities.

The Design Skills component will fast-track essential knowledge and skills
that many permaculturists struggle with, not only regarding meeting
requirements for APT qualifications, but also to be effective as
professional Permaculture designers and practitioners in the ‘real world’.
These include developing plant knowledge and basic botany, design process,
drawing and drafting skills, standard symbols, working to scale, concept,
detail and construction plans, client brief & communications, bills of
quantity, costs and quotes, and basic surveying.

The FLOW in Sydney will aim to support the establishing of APT study groups
as Bioregional Campus collectives for Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast
and other areas represented by course participants. Study groups can choose
to register with Erda Institute as distance ‘Flexible Learning’ students
with access to Erda’s APT course materials, student on-line facilities,
project templates, plus pre-arranged electronic tutorial sessions and
assessment meetings. The process is also designed to support local groups to
establish their APT Bioregional Campus and prepare to provide APT training
and courses in their local area.
