This is just a suggestion: Be very sure first that you, your children and
grandchildren will always want bamboo in the location you select. When it
takes
hold, it's there for keeps.
Also, have some method handy to limit its spread to places where you don't
want it. Digging a physical trench 18-24 inches deep around an overly
aggressive
stand is a good first step toward reasserting control. Be ever vigilant for
rhizomes that jump the barrier. Bamboo in the wrong place can pursue its own
agenda with devilish determination.
Of course this probably depends on location. In Kevin's part of the realm,
apparently it only has a fifty percent chance of even surviving. If you have
a
neighbor with bamboo, you might want to ask them about their own experiences.
