INTERN OPPORTUNITIES ON PERMACULTURE ACROSS BORDERS (PAB) PROJECT IN RAKAI
DISTRICT, UGANDA

Permaculture Across Borders (PAB) is partnering on a project to bring
greater food self-sufficiency at a Boarding School and Home for orphaned and
vulnerable children in South-Western Uganda. Working with and learning from
the community, we plan to use a permaculture-based approach to achieve
greater food self-sufficiency and establish the Home as a community resource
for learning, teaching, and spreading sustainable agriculture practices.

Stage 1: June-July 2008
Rosemary Morrow of Australia leads a hands-on permaculture design process
to:
€ Consult with local community leaders
€ Teach a 4-day Introduction to Permaculture course
€ Work with the staff and children at the home on preliminary design and
implementation.
Stage 2: August 2008-September 2009
€ 3-12 month internship to carry forward design implementation

Permaculture Across Borders is partnering and fundraising for this project
with Children of Uganda, a registered Ugandan NGO that funds and manages the
home. Permaculture Across Borders is a U.S. non-profit who works to provide
and pass on technical expertise to further and integrate sustainable
practices.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an intern with post-PDC experience to
work alongside Rosemary and to then stay on-site to help the Home staff
implement the design. The plan is to teach a PDC course around the time of
the Malawi Convergence in 2009, giving the intern/s an opportunity to
co-teach the PDC and travel to Malawi with the team.
Rosemary arrives in Uganda on June 24; the 4-day course will begin June 28.

Please contact Jan Smart at info@permacultureacrossborders.org if you are
interested in exploring opportunities for an internship in 2008 or 2009.
