Subject: AmeriCorps Opportunity with Supporting People with Developmental
Disabilities
To: <Undisclosed-Recipient:;>

Would you like to live and work in an intentional community alongside
children, young adults or adults with developmental disabilities?

Camphill is an international movement of communities designed to meet the
needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities through
community life, the arts and work on the land. You can be an integral part
of our community, working as an AmeriCorps volunteer to lead workshops in
painting, pottery, weaving, or drama....working in our biodynamic farms or
gardens ....organizing hiking, camping, and cultural expeditions. We need
your skills and motivation!

Most Camphill communities are in a rural setting, providing
opportunities for agricultural and horticultural work supporting a
sustainable world ecology. In each Camphill community - whether a children's
village, a community for young people finding their way into adult life, or
communities that provide opportunities for adults - people live together in
house communities. Members of the house community share in the daily life
and tasks of the house, and engage in work at school, on the land, in one of
the craft workshops or providing some other service.

The Camphill approach honors the spiritual integrity of every human being,
regardless of ability or circumstances, and recognizes the individual's need
and right to lead a full life that includes material, emotional, social and
spiritual needs. The Camphill approach to community living, service, outreach
and support is a practical expression of the holistic worldview introduced by
Rudolf Steiner PhD. It brings together education, science, healing,
agriculture, the arts and civil society.

As a volunteer joining a Camphill community, you will participate in a
variety of experiences that can include:
· Supporting individuals with disabilities in the home, classroom, or at
work on the farm, gardens, or in a craft workshops, such as weaving, pottery,
stained glass, woodworking, candle-making, or bakery;
· Taking a group of people on a hike or field trip;
· Cooking wholesome food for the house community together with others
· Celebrating seasonal community festivals.

If this opportunity sounds appealing, I would encourage you to check out our
listings on the AmeriCorps website, www.americorps.org or the website
www.camphill.org for more detailed information. Currently, there are
openings in the following communities:

with special needs to adulthood, self-development, and fulfillment of the
potential through education and work training. About 60 people live in 125
acres of land. The community is rich in agriculture, crafts, festivals, and
arts. Triform is located in up-state New York, near the city of Hudson and

Kimberton Hills Camphill Village is a land-based life-sharing community
striving to restore vitality to our ecosystems and to societal structures.
Anthroposophy, the spiritual philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, is the wellspring
of our community life. Adults who have developmental disabilities and
volunteers form a supportive community based on shared responsibilities and
caring. Volunteers live and work in our village community, serving in family
households, craft workshops (bakery, weavery, fiber workshop, wood workshop),
land and building maintenance work, organic gardening and farming. The
village fosters a strong cultural life of festivals, music, and art. It is
located one hour west of Philadelphia in the same general area as Camphill
Soltane and Camphill Special School at Beaver Run. www.camphillkimberton.org
