Hi Brit,
Epworth Center is working on building a permaculture community in High Falls, NY. They have planned a straw bale structure with a stone foundation. localenergysolutions.com/092106-Epwth-brch.pdf There are courses there, too. I teach and garden in Brooklyn. I believe that Larry Santoyo will be here in Manhattan in Aptil for a weekend permaculture intensive. Andrew and I may be working together in the spring, as well. So a nice network is beginning to come together here. Where are you in NYC?

Good luck with your plans.
Claudia

Hello Britt,
My name is Andrew Faust and and I just wanted to let you know that I
am offering natural building workshops in Brooklyn this November that
will encompass both straw bale and cob. I have extensive experience
with these materials and have been hired as a consultant on a property
upstate. In addition I also have land prospecting experience and am
presentlylooking for land upstate as well. i've attached the class
listings if you are interested. Feel free to call and we can meet to
discuss your goals with earth homes!
Sincerely,
Andrew

Hey all,
I'm new to the list, single mom living in NYC and planning on buying a
little land upstate and putting up either a straw bale home or a cob. Anyone
in upstate NY doing this? Would very much like to connect with others... not
only upstate, but also in NYC. We're heading up to Saugerties this weekend
to look at places, so if anyone is building or living in earth homes
anywhere in NY State, I'd love to hear from you, as we try to figure out
where to look for land...limiting it to within 3 hours of NYC for ease of
traveling back and forth....
Thanks,
Britt
