In latin america, where they use green manure/cover crop systems, they have an animal drawn machine, called a rolo-faca (i think) that is used to cut up the cover crop. No herbicides needed. They can go to a completely no-till system in a few years. In some places, ploughs are rusting after abandonment and dis-use.
