Here is a devastating criticism of nuclear power:

The message is that nuclear power only reduces CO2 (after several years)
if the uranium is produced from rich ores which are in short supply.
As a large scale program to produce a large fraction of the world's electricity (let alone replace other forms of energy as in making synthetic fuels), nuclear power cannot reduce CO2 and wil eventually result in an increase in CO2 emissions.

The assumption of the detailed analysis is that once-through reactors will be used; however no breeders have been successfuly operated for long periods yet and the energy balance for breeders remains to be proved even if they are feasible.
