The multilog has taken an interesting turn, with talking chickens now.
Outside of Wilson North Carolina, back in the days when country gas stations
were just a pump in front of a one room store, there was a storekeep who
would
tell travellers they ought to take a look at his smart chicken. And he would
show them out back, where he had two wire cages. One held a chicken and the
other held a rabbit.
He'd drop a couple of kernels of corn into the rabbit's cage and a piece of
lettuce into the chicken's cage. And he'd leave both doors open.
The rabbit would just sit there like an idiot, looking at the corn. But the
chicken, after pausing for a moment or two, would pick up the lettuce and
drop
it in front of the rabbit's cage. Then when the rabbit came out to get the
lettuce, he'd run into the cage and steal all his corn.
Lots of critters are smart. But they don't like to talk about it-- it just
tips their hand to the other players.
