It doesn't sound like the most exciting event in the world with the "scientists", "engineers" and all. The "Ecological Engineering" part also sounds a little wack, as if to be still stuck in a mentality that its Man's duty to dominate nature, but I thought I'd pass along this information to the list. NOTE the abstract submission deadline!
I wonder if these folks have heard about Permaculture or the Land Institute?

Please join us for this informative and stimulating conference, on May 23-25, 2007 at the Kansas State University Campus in Manhattan, Kansas. A pre-conference workshop on May 21-23 will also be offered.

We invite you to participate in the 7th annual American Ecological Engineering Society meeting, "Ecological Engineering in the Great Plains Ecosystem. The conference will be held in the unique Flint Hills ecoregion on the beautiful Kansas State University campus, Manhattan, KS, USA.

Participants may receive an optional Certificate of Participation reporting (15) contact hours, which will provide documentation for engineering Professional Development Hours (PDH) or Continuing Education Units (CEU).

The American Ecological Engineering Society (AEES) works to promote the development of sustainable ecosystems that integrate human society with its natural environment for the benefit of both. Participants in this conference include scientists and engineers, policy makers, planners and partners from federal, state, and local agencies, tribal governments, non-government organizations, private interests, water resource engineers, water resource managers, environmental consultants, environmental policy managers, ecological scientists and researchers, hydrological modelers, students, and environmental interest groups.
