well said- our (understandable) predisposition to view things "in
relation to" ourselves, and not to just view the events, has led us
away from that holistic thinking that you wrote about. I find all too
often that people are talking about saving the earth, etc, when in
fact, it is a whole system, or part of a whole system anyway, and does
not need saving. all environmental causes are at their cores a
selfish reaction: save the humans- we must change our behaviors or we
will simply extinguish ourselves, after which, the earth will keep
right on spinning, sun shining on part of it some of the "time" :) ,
and the fireweed will go on in its cyclic way...

so, like i said, well, said, jonathan.
