The FDA warning has evidently spread to ALL bagged spinach from any
producer. See: http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2006/NEW01450.html
E. coli lives in the intestines of humans too, of course, and can be spread
by the humans working with a crop, whether in the fields or in the
processing plants. This would apply to all growers, whether organic or
regular commercial.
I believe there are regulations within the Organic Standards that protect
crops from the application of fresh manure (manure, that is, that might
spread E. coli).
