- Subject: [permaculture] flood recovery ideas -- wet books

I was wondering if anyone had ever tried using wet paperback books in
sheet mulching.
The reason I ask is...some of you may have heard about the floods
along the eastern seaboard of the US. I lost my car and everything in
my basement in a flash flood. I can't do anything about the car, but
now I'm wondering if it would be reasonable to lay out a bunch of
paperback books along the ground in a single layer, cover them with
the wet cardboard they were stored in, throw a layer of leaf litter on
top, and let the worms turn them into something useful.
Is this likely to go horribly wrong? Am I just making a landfill in my
own yard if I do this? Do worms prefer economics texts or mystery
novels?
Thanks,
Amanda Gilbert
