Regarding cats, think I will try a bell. No dog could ever eat my cats. My
cats are the alpha dog to every dog they've ever met, also to raccoons.
Live on a very quiet street at the end and they stick around home, very few
cars. Can't keep them indoors, doors are constantly opening and closing
with children running in and out. My answer is no future cats, I reckon.
Snakes...we have copperheads in MO but haven't seen any around home. They
catch an occasional mole, which is okay by me, but usually oh, say,
migrating warblers or baby cardinals or bunnies....
Meanwhile, my ex's mom, a past pres of Ill Audobon Society, said she
heard
an ornithologist speak last week who said feed the birds in the summer, esp
during nesting, and they will naturally vary their diets anyway, but it
helps ensure the survival of more songbird babies, and those that migrate
to the south in the winter have had such presses on their habitat. So that
sounded like good advice. Kathy in St. Louis
