Would you like to use your biology degree to help designers and engineers create a sustainable world?

Join Janine Benyus, author of Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature, and Dayna Baumeister, PhD biologist and Education Director of the Biomimicry Guild, for an eye-opening, five-day intensive course to train biologists interested in applying biomimicry to design

Biomimicry Workshop: Biologists at the Design Table

http://www.biomimicry.net/BaDT.html

Course Content:

What you'll learn:
* What is Biomimicry?
* Examples of biomimetic success stories
* How biological knowledge inspires the design of new products, processes, systems
* How to facilitate bio-inspired design
What you'll do:
* Solve design challenges by asking "what would nature do here?"
* Brainstorm with other biologists
* Become acquainted with life's inherently sustainable design principles
* Learn how to translate biological knowledge for non-technical audiences interested in biomimicry
* Practice with engineers, designers, and managers

What you'll take home:
* A sense of possibility, because sustainable models already exist...right outside!
* A proven method for bringing nature's ideas to the design
table
* Tools and expert contacts for further explorations
* A whole new way of viewing and valuing the genius that surrounds us
*
Workshop Logistics:

Participants: Biologists and naturalists with a passion for the natural world, an understanding of sustainability and an interest in applying nature's elegant design strategies to human challenges.

Workshop Dates: July 22 - July 27, 2006. The course begins with dinner on the 22nd and ends after breakfast on the 27th.

Workshop Location: The breathtaking Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch in Dupuyer, Montana

Workshop Costs: $600 for students; $700 for non-profit employees and university faculty and staff; $800 for government employees and for-profit entities.
