Hello Kevin,
So do you mean that it is better not to add manure to the tree holes but you
can add manure just below the mulch instead?

Then, is it good to fill the gaps between the hole and the rootstock with the
same soil/subsoil that was excavated?

Antonio,

Plant the windbreak trees in the native soil, than mulch the surface around
the drip lines to promote healthy establishment and growth. DO NOT put
manure in the tree holes, since it will generate methane, which will air
prune the roots. Trees benefit greatly from mulching and fertilization
compared to no action at all.
