Hi all,

Each year the Urban Farm offers reasonably priced high quality fruit trees to the public. All trees are preordered and paid for by you then we have an annual Tree Day Event where you pick up your new trees. This will be our fourth annual event. Along with the program comes several classes to help inform you about the best ways to grow your own fruit trees. I have had a boatload of questions regarding fruit trees for this seasons so I will attempt to outline our program and answer your questions.

*** First of all you do not need to attend a class to purchase fruit trees. The order form is posted on our web site at http://www.urbanfarm.org/fruit_trees/index.html and you can download it, fill it out and send it in to the address on the form. If you have tree questions you can call me at 602-565-7045 and I will help you over the phone.

* Step One - The Program starts every fall with a class designed to answer all of your questions about what it takes to grow deciduous and citrus trees here in the desert. I will make sure that when you leave you know what there is to know about the successful growing of fruit trees. We discuss apples, pears, stone fruit, citrus and some tropical fruits. This is a two hour class and is given on Tuesday Sept 20, Oct 18 and Nov 15. You only need to attend one although you may attend more if you like. We provide you with a plethora of information and copies of data sheets about urban fruit tree culture.

We will also have 50 pound bags of organic fertilizer available at these events for you to purchase. Please email me to preorder one - they are $30 each.

Held Tuesday Sept 20, Oct 18 or Nov 15
6:30 to 8:00 pm
At Unlimited Coffee - Right across from Safeway
741 E Glendale
Phoenix, AZ 85021
602-565-7045

* Step Two - Each Year we also hold our Annual Buy a Fruit Tree Day at the Urban Farm the Day after Thanksgiving. On this day we offer the same information as in the fruit tree classes plus you have the opportunity to see some of the fruit tree applications here at the Urban Farm. With over 50 fruit trees planted here on the property you have hedges of citrus, apples and stone fruit plus a wide variety of trees to see.

Held Friday Nov 25
8:30 am to Noon
At The Urban Farm
6750 N 13th Place
Phoenix, AZ 85014

We will also have 50 pound bags of organic fertilizer available at these events for you to purchase. Please email me to preorder one - they are $30 each.

* Step Three - Pick up your trees - The 2005 Pick up date is tentatively Saturday January 7 - Location to be announced. On this day you will pick up your ordered trees, we will teach you how to plant, fertilize and water them and will have mulch, fertilizer and other accoutrements available for you to purchase.

* In January we will also offer a fruit tree pruning and care class. The date will be determined as January approaches.

* Our Guidelines:

These are the guidelines that by purchasing trees you agree to abide by:
* Tree orders are prepaid and must be received and paid for by November 25th, 2005 to qualify for this pricing.
* Orders paid for after Nov 25 will result in a $5 per tree surcharge for $30 trees and a $10 per tree surcharge for $70 trees.
