Isn't it just a pattern found in nature?
While very pretty, I know a few people who've concluded the patterning
difficult to maintain. I noticed the beds at this site:
http://www.kavenga.com/subperma/permaculture%20feattwo.htm using a lot of
rock and what looks like cement walkways.
I'd have trouble keeping this from getting overgrown with bermuda grass
here.
