FairTax NewsletterFriends,

The upcoming FairTax www.fairtax.org will replace the income-based tax and
is now endorsed by America's leading economists and Fed Chairman Alan
Greenspan even gave it a thumbs up. Please take a moment and forward this to
everyone on your email lists and keep this info moving until we have no
income taxes and can keep what we earn, deciding our tax level individually
based on consumables. No "returns" to fill in by April 15 anymore, saving the
country and all of billions of hours and dollars. Read about this new form of
taxation which obsoletes the antiquated "tax code" and let's you keep
whatever you earn.Get involved in sharing this message now also endorsed by
much of Congress.

Thanks,

Your friend,

Johnny Gregory

FairTax finally produces an E-Newsletter!

Hello, Johnny:

Letter from the Executive Director:

Many of you have asked for an e-mail newsletter. And it has
taken us way too long to get it to you, but we are finally here. Send it to
your friends!

This is the first edition, in honor of the upcoming dreaded
April 15th deadline. We hope to add new features to this e-newsletter soon
but we wanted you to get a copy today with all of the latest news! Thank you
for all of your contributions of time and funds. We are closer than we have
ever been to passing the FairTax.

Latest News!! Nearly one hundred economists nationwide
endorse the FairTax in a letter to the House, Senate, Treasury, tax reform
panel and the President.
Nearly seven months ago an idea was born in the mind of a
FairTax supporter who is an economics professor at the University of
Virginia. He wanted to see more economists publicly endorse the FairTax
concept. That idea became a project that has finally come to fruition.
Working with top regional director Bill Rollyson and over 40 volunteers
nationwide, they built a database of economists from leading universities
across the country. They began contacting them and produced an endorsement
letter for the FairTax. Nearly 100 economists, one of whom is a Nobel Prize
winner, have now endorsed, specifically, the FairTax HR 25 and S 25, in
writing. This endorsement letter was delivered to the doorsteps of every
single tax aide on Capitol Hill at the beginning of this month. We also made
sure the President, his tax reform panel, and Treasury Secretary Snow had a
copy. And the media. Please take a moment to view the letter here:
http://www.fairtax.org/eco_endorsements.html. We have another letter going
out and hope to have more endorsements coming in soon! Stay tuned.

FairTax headquarters Heather Buchanan and Jonathan Read
enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Grassroots Update.
Over 650 letter writers engage local media with letters to
the editor. The Presidents panel hearings have afforded us many opportunities
in the media. In March, Federal Reserve Chairman Greenspan's favorable
comments made over 700 major newspapers nationwide. Though Greenspan did not
say the magic words "FairTax", we were listed as America's leading
consumption tax by both Wall Street Journal and CNN recent polls. The day
after those hearings, polls showed up all over the Internet and we won them
all decisively. We took full advantage of this opportunity and over 300
volunteers went to work the next day writing letters to the editor of
newspapers nationwide. We were able to get out over 10,000 letters to the
editor in less than three days! These letter writers joined the 350 letter
writers who were already writing excellent letters, bringing us to over 650
letter writers to news publications and adding more volunteers writing
letters daily. Thanks to all of you for your help. Special thanks to Georgia
volunteer Larry Whittington who is now heading up the project nationwide. If
you would like assistance in writing a letter to the editor please contact
Larry at larry.whittington@earthlink.net.

Volunteers will be working post office media events
nationwide on April 15th, educating American taxpayers on the FairTax.
FairTax gatherings are planned nationwide on April 15th in
the following locations; Phoenix, Arizona; Eugene/ Springfield Oregon; Fort
Myers, Florida; Dade City, Florida; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Elbow Lake,
Minnesota; Alexandria, Minnesota, Joplin, Missouri; Bloomington,Indiana;
Cary, North Carolina; Columbia, South Carolina; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and
more. Please contact Gregory McNeill at Gregory.mcneill@fairtax.org if you
would like to get more information.

DC update: Tax panel says to the American public: "Help is
possible!" The FairTax organization is closely following the President's Tax
Reform
Panel's hearings, but not because we expect a blanket
endorsement. The panel's signal benefit is in letting the American public
know there is hope. Something can be done about the current system. Help is
possible. Their first public hearing outside of Washington - in Tampa,
Florida - was dominated by small businessmen stating emphatically, - "Just
tell us the rules, don't change them, and leave us alone!" Former Ways &
Means Chairman Sam Gibbons, retired to Tampa, was equally emphatic in his
demand for complete replacement with a consumption tax. The next hearings in
New Orleans, and following that in San Francisco, were dominated by strong
talk of more benefits of a consumption tax - albeit tempered with the
political difficulties associated with a pure replacement, such as the
FairTax. FairTax grassroots support is backing them up. At the most recent
tax panel hearing in San Francisco, volunteers met with tax panel members and
reportedly were told by former Senator Connie Mack,"We see your people
everywhere we go." You all should be commended but there is much, much more
work to do.

2005's first congressional tax aide education briefing a
success.
Last year, thanks to hundreds of calls by volunteers,
nearly 105 House and Senate offices - accounting for 20 percent of the
Congress - were represented at our first-ever seminar. This year we had a
smaller room but were again treated to a standing room only event. So far,
our invitations were focused more on the Republican side. Specifically, tax
aides new to DC, tax aides who had not attended the previous tax aide event
last year, and the aides on the Senate side. Over 100 volunteers participated
by calling the offices of their elected officials. Argus Group principal and
well known tax bill author David Burton and esteemed economist from Boston
University(and one of our original research team members) Dr. Laurence
Kotlikoff addressed the DC staffers on the specifics of the FairTax plan and
how it could win constituencies. We distributed over 60 briefing books
addressing how the FairTax met the needs of the Republican Party leadership,
the Democrat party leadership, and the Presidential Tax Panel requirements.
We are planning many private, one-on-one meetings with Democrat and
Republican tax aides for later this month. We hope to have introduced and
briefed either publicly or privately every single tax aide in DC on the
FairTax before summer begins. If you would like to help us set up one of
these private meetings or attend one of these in D.C. or in the district
please e-mail genie@fairtax.org. She will be glad to assist you. Your
congressman prefers to hear from his constituents! Remember, they work for
you!

Media Update
In the last 30 days, we have been privileged to see a
George Will opinion editorial syndicated nationwide, a Kotlikoff opinion
editorial in the Wall Street Journal, and many more. These editorials
specifically addressed the benefits of the FairTax and were published in the
most well known papers in the country. Reporters from CNN, Fox, and major
publications are calling us to ask for our input -- including an extensive
interview with INC Magazine. This is very exciting for our staff and
volunteers. Times have changed and that is thanks to you for your service to
the cause! Replacing the income tax with the FairTax is a dream many of you
have been working on for nearly a decade. It is now becoming a reality. We
are seeing significant progress thanks to your hard work. To keep up to date,
we want to take a moment to make sure you know of these places on the website
where you can view recent news stories and videos. Videos can be found at
