For those of us living up in the Frozen North:

Do you ever find yourself working long hours outdoors and coming home chilled
to the bone? Make yourself a dickey.

You know how you dress in layers, but too many layers hamper your arm
movement since they bunch up in your armpits? Well just go down to the thrift
shop
and buy an old turtleneck. Cut off everything but the cowl and enough fabric
to
cover your collarbone front and back.

The principle is the same as when you jump in the shower after getting
chilled. As soon as the hot spray hits the nape of your neck, heat starts to
radiate
through your whole body. It's a vital spot for your thermostat.

The old folks knew this, and went out wearing a dickey. See how useful these
ancestors still are to us?
