in fiji they used for large extended family use a sort of "composting loo"
that consisted of a (gov supplied) conctete lid with included toilet seat
(poured in one piece, lid approx 1 meter in diameter). this lid is placed
over a dug hole (1 meter deep, 1/2 meter or less in diameter), and a
lightweight bamboo structure is placed around it, for sight protection.
after a month or 2 a new hole is dug, lid and boo structure moved onto the
new hole, old hole planted with a banana sucker. this is it. keeps the kids
and the pigs off the poo.
