Permaculture Design Course (PDC)

There are 2 more 2003 PDC's scheduled with ERDA Institute
at Djanbung Gardens, Nimbin, Northern NSW, Australia:
August 24-Sept 7
October 10-23

Djanbung Gardens is a purposed designed permaculture education and
demonstration site with a 5 acre 'living classroom' of working permaculture
systems and applications to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
The training centre is a passive solar earthbrick hexagon with big verandahs
for classes and houses an extensive reference library for personal research.
Video library available for evening viewing.
All PDC's include a visit to Jarlanbah Permaculture Hamlet to see a diverse
range of energy efficient houses, productive gardens, waste treatment
systems and community land management. One of the course highlights is a
visit to nearby world heritage rainforests with Peter Hardwick, leading
bushfoods expert and permaculture designer. Rainbow Power Company can be
visited to view alternative energy systems & technology.
The full PDC curriculum is covered - see web site for details.
Excellent food, mostly from the gardens and local organic growers - lunches
& some evening meals included in course fee. Accommodation and camping
available on site.
Djanbung is a 10 min walk from the village to access post, phone, ATM, shops
and other services.
Main tutors: Robyn Francis, Janelle Schafer and Peter Hardwick.
Course cost: $850 ($750 conc.)

Students are invited to stay on after the course for a week or 2 gaining
further practical experience as an ERDA volunteer working in the gardens 3-4
hour/day for accommodation and welcome to utilise library & other resources
at other times.
Spring (Sept-Nov) is also bamboo harvest time & an opportunity to learn
about this amazing plant, clump management, harvesting, treating and curing
as well as bamboo crafts.
