Hi
oh and don't forget that the Dune series by Frank Herbert was written as
an explicit attempt to wake people up to the perils of environmental
degradation. Okay, so it got out of hand and turned into a 9-volume
saga, but that was the reason the original dune novel was written: keep
damaging the environment and you'll wind up living on Arrakis.
Oh, I've been lurking here forever but actually *reading* the list over
the last few weeks (the "regional sustainable diets thread" caught my
eye) suggests that this is an extremely interesting list, so, um, hello,
maybe I'll write some more.
