Hi again -

Also from the Beyond Pesticides conference - the Bureau of Land Management is
writing an Environmental Impact Statement on vegetation treatments that will
guide its invasive plant control methods on BLM land (1.2 million acres in 19
states.) While both the Dept of Defense and Fish and Wildlife have been
instructed to cut back on pesticide use, they don't necessarily use a
comprehensive ecological vision, let alone a permacultural one, to guide
their management planning.

The Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides is working to promote
alternatives to pesticide spraying and to get the Dept of Interior to look at
how their land management practices encourage invasives.

If this interests anyone and you want to help NCAP with their efforts,
contact staff scientist Carolyn Cox - ccox@pesticide.org.

Thanks!
Martha
