I bought the farm. Well, I bought 5 acres in El Dorado County
California (Zone 9?). The land is slightly sloping cleared of scrubs
mostly grass with some Gray Pines and various Oaks. Would like to get
started with Permaculture on the land but don't know where to start.

Goals:
1) Shade. It's hot here this summer.
good

2) Deal with these Moles or Gophers.

Install predator perches near the infestation. Get a gopher blaster (mixes oxygen and propane in the borrow and ignites it, blowes them up. Try the perch first...

3) Create some interest.

Let naked people roam the grounds

4) Build a natural pond with fish. Trout would be cool.

More like dead. Trout are cold water fish, unless you have a rapidly flowing spring you need some different fish.

5) Sustainability food production.
figure out what you can grow that you like to eat. Plant it. Get some grazing critters to use that grass.

I figure I will observe for several months.
My questions are. What are some things I can do to prepare the land
for Permaculture?

Soil test, including micro nutrients and pH. Prepare your mind for PC, start nursery beds for transplants.

What are favorite Permaculture type projects?

Cows! Sheep! Goats! and of course chickens....
