Hi,
I'm very new to the world of wikis, though have been trying to thank of
better ways of allowing for community information generation (imagine if the
Plants For A Future database allowed for direct updates to the information,
so someone whose researched some plant might be able to provide more
ethnobotanical information, or cultivation suggestions for their area, or
plants that grow together naturally suggesting guild possiblities... Anyway,

That's a great use for a PC WIKI.

Where are you located?

I have the PHP code for PHPWiki, I could upload it and try to get it to
work, though if ibiblio folks with more experience with their system wanted
to provide easy implementation of wiki engines to others (and alt.pc) that

I called them today and asked them to look at the various engines available and select one to install on ibiblio for all content providers there to use. I hope to hear from them as to when we can expect to use it sometime next week.

It would be good if alt.pc people would join us in using it.

would be great. A wiki would take the brute force work off of one person,
allowing for people with varing experiences and interests to focus on and
add to their area of expertese.

That sure is the truth. I look forward to adding resources and ideas to it. Whild talking to a friend starting a wastewater management curriculum at a nearby community college I came up with the notion of
creating a number of special mailing lists to support collaboration
between people developing various parts of a Wiki. Instead of using private email and addressbooks to solicit submissions to the Wikipedia
calls for input could be sent into special lists created expressly for the development of the Wiki.

I see the PC Wiki at the top of the pyramid with various forms of agriculture, waste recycling (reedbeds, constucted and artifial wetlands, etc.), architecture and alternative energy sources falling under its umbrella.
