G'day Robyn, and all:)

Hmm...one of the small ponds (1/2 acre or so) I had built looked great for
one season...nice blue green color. But under cattle use it too has turned
into that brown soup!
Also areas leading to the pond tend to have standing water after heavy rains.
This water comes off high hills very quickly, and just flows out over certain
areas...creating a bloody muddy mess that's difficult to get through...even
on foot:)
I had wanted to dig the pond deeper but the excavator mentioned that he was
bringing up some bluish gravel and water seep. Only about 5 or 6' depth. He
was afraid that if he went deeper the pond might drain out. He also mentioned
that it could be that the level of the pond's bottom could be at the same
depth of the creek which is about a 1000' away.
So not being certain as to what to do I took his advice. Any comments? Thanks
to all for their comments. They really help. Frank
