I figure now is as good a time as any to take a
moment to say hello and thanks to everyone on this list. As a burgeoning
PDC (in the final phase of site development/planning via a distance ed. course)
I've learned much from the personalities on this list. I have one question
which i'm hoping someone can answer...on our shared 5 acre property lives a long
time practioner of permaculture and homesteading (Peter Light). he's been
plucking away at it for over 20 years now (he left 'civilization' in 68') and
he's thrice been certified via the 72 hour PDC course. How, does he go
about getting the ability to give out the PDC now that everything seems a bit
wobbly on the global scene (my interpretation anyhow)?
We've just received a $150.000.00 CDN grant from
the federal government to put unemployed youth through an 'Ecotech' traing
course where they will receive their PDC, Industrial First Aid
certifiactes and other stuff and we'd like Peter (the fellow we live with) to
train them for the 72 hour course. As an option upon completion we're
setting up free training encapments in belize, portugal, chiapas and a few other
areas where friends/my community have properties which are not being used and we
will be building a bike route down the PNW of N.America with properties every
5-8 hours distance on bike. So I guess I have one more question, are there
'stand alone' Permaculture designs out there where someone with a trained eye
will only be visitng them every season for at most, a week? Is this
possible?
